Topnaar graves trail
The Topnaar graves trail will introduce you to the way of life of the Topnaar people living in the dune belt surrounding Walvis Bay. We visit some historical sites and grave sites that have been uncovered by the regular south westerly winds. I will also introduce you to some people living in the dunes and surviving on the !Nara fruit as their forefathers did for many centuries.
The route has some exiting dune and soft sand driving which should only be tackled with a 4x4 having low range capability.

The highest dunes on this trail is approximately 30 m. The route is approximately 30 km long and can be done in 2 - 4 hours.

The first time I showed the graves to "tourists"
Friends of Morne Stevens, Christo Conradie and his wife Anneline where in Walvis bay on 02/05/23 and we took them on a small dune trip to the topnaar graves after work. Christo drives a Landy 130 TDI and they where fully laden as they are on a long overlanding trip but they did not have any problem keeping up with us. He even went up the sharp side of the dune next to the graves.
